Blisters and Chafing
Friday May 23, 2008
Blisters and chafing can happen any time you change your walking speed, get new shoes, or walk in a different climate. My walking buddy Rachel bought new shoes on Friday and after two walks on Saturday and Sunday, she sent me this photo of what happened with she blistered and it popped.- Seven Strategies to Prevent Blisters: Different techniques work for different feet. Find out more about using lubricants, cover-ups, and selecting the right shoes and socks to prevent blisters.
- How to Treat a Blister: Rachel did the right thing on Saturday - she put a gel blister bandage over the area. But on Sunday she replaced that with two inexpensive bandages that fell off.
- Book Review: "Fixing Your Feet": This comprehensive step-by-step book by John Vonhof shows how to prevent and treat blisters, tape your feet, and more. It should be on every walker's bookshelf. Compare Prices

You get the award for gross photos! There are blister prevention products but a good fitting pair of shoes and wicking socks are the best preventive measures I know of!

Yes, all of my walking buddies are fair game when they have injuries! Just waiting for one to have a poison oak rash next…
I couldn’t resist, Rachel emailed me the photo without prompting last night, just had to use it!
