Training to Walk a Marathon or Half Marathon
Monday April 21, 2008
My boss's son ran the Boston Marathon today -- his first marathon. I've finished the Portland Marathon seven times and I think I'm retiring on those laurels. I'll be sticking with the half marathons, which are "only" 13.1 miles long.
If the marathon is one of your life goals, it's time to start training! If you regularly walk for 5-6 miles, you can get into training now and be ready for autumn marathons. If you just began your walking journey, it's best to give yourself a year to 18 months, and instead set a goal of an autumn half marathon.

I would love you (Wendy) to take a walk on the weighted side. Try my weighted Walkvest for improved exercise benefits from walking. And we’re not talking about a lot of weight here – just four, or six, or eight pounds makes an amazing difference in the way you ‘feel’ your body while walking. And the benefits (weight loss, stronger bones, improved muscle strength and tone) are quite spectacular..
please look at my http://www.walkvest.com website and contact me (info@walkvest.com) if you are interested in trying one.
Happy Trails Wendy -
