April 16: Start! Walking Day

Tuesday April 15, 2008
April 16 is National Start! Walking Day. It's a program from the American Heart Association that encourages companies to promote walking at work and recognize and reward employees who move from a sedentary to a more active lifestyle. Over 450 walking events are planned nationwide. The program includes a free MyStart! Online Tool where you can enter your walking times or distances, map your walks, and enter your meal information in a nutrition diary.

How useful is walking at work? A 15-minute walk during a work break is a great start towards building a fitness habit. The 2000 steps you are logging can make the difference in reducing health risks. Get up and get moving at work!
