Black Toenail

Sunday June 12, 2005
At the end of a long walk or run, you may notice that a toenail has turned black or gray, and may be swollen under the nail. What happened? What's going to happen?

I was very concerned over a black toenail that appeared after a very long day walking all day at the Toronto Ex. I had no idea what caused it. I was heartned to read your web site and see that it describes exactly what had happened to me. Not as scary as I thought it was. I am still going to my doctor as I am diabetic and want to keep an eye on it.

Yes, for those with diabetes you want to make sure you are being monitored by your doctor for any foot injury.

I’ve been through the black toenail/lost toenail a couple of times now so it isn’t so scary anymore. But I still want to avoid it!
